FREE SCHOOL MEAL ENTITLEMENT

HOW TO APPLY
If you would like to apply for free school meals, please follow the steps below:
- Visit https://www.sandwell.gov.uk/forms/form/16/free_school_meals to complete an application online – this is the quickest way of applying
- Alternatively, you can collect a paper application from the reception desk and post to:

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Sandwell Local Authority Education Benefits Team will notify you via post if you are eligible. You can contact the team on 0121 569 8186 or 0121 569 8189 to find out the status of your application
STUDENTS WHO ARE ELIGIBLE
Successful applicants will receive £3.00 per day, credited to their student card, to spend in the school canteen and café. Lunch costs £2.00 for a main meal and £1 for a dessert. If students are in receipt of Free School Meals and would like to purchase snacks or drinks in addition to their lunch, they will need to make regular deposits on ParentPay to credit their account with the additional funds to cover the cost of this.
MAKING PAYMENTS USING PARENTPAY
At Health Futures UTC, we operate a cashless catering system, whereby all students and staff are issued with an identity card that is linked to the catering account. We use ParentPay as our secure online payment facility and an online account has been created for you so that you may regularly credit your child’s dinner money account or make one- off payments towards trips, proms etc. If you require login details to ParentPay, please email firstname.lastname@example.org

HOW TO ACTIVATE YOUR ACCOUNT
1. Navigate to https://www.parentpay.com
2. Select Login at the top right corner of the screen
3. Enter the username and password provided by the school and click Login
4. Complete the activation as detailed on the screen.
5. You can now log in to your account.
HOW TO PAY FOR MEALS
1. Select the ‘Pay for meals’ option
2. Enter the amount you wish to pay (minimum is £5)
3. Select ‘Add to basket’
4. Select ‘View basket’ and ‘Pay’
5. Use a bank card to complete your payment.
A PayPoint card allows you to make payments at your local PayPoint store using cash. Please contact the school on 0121 794 2888 to order a PayPoint card. The card will take 3 weeks to arrive.
WHAT IS A PAYPOINT CARD?
A PayPoint card can be offered to students by Health Futures UTC, allowing you to credit your child’s account using cash at a PayPoint store. This is an alternative option for students / parents who prefer to pay cash.
ORDER YOUR PAYPOINT CARD
If you do not wish to make payment online via ParentPay, you can request a PayPoint card by emailing email@example.com. It can take up to 3 weeks for the PayPoint card to be delivered to your school. An email will be sent to the student asking them to collect the card from reception.
PAY FOR DINNER
The PayPoint card will only work for school meals. Please take cash along with your PayPoint card to your local PayPoint store and make a payment at the counter.
PAY FOR OTHER FEES
To pay for trips, prom, exam fees or anything else, please contact Mrs Kumari who will issue you with a barcoded letter. You will need to take the barcoded letter to your local PayPoint store and pay cash over the counter.
***PLEASE NOTE: Payment using a PayPoint card or barcoded letter will not instantly credit your child’s school account. Please allow atleast 48 hours for these payments to be processed. If you need to credit your child’s account sooner than this, you must log in to your ParentPay account and make payment using your credit / debit card.***
LOST / DAMAGED PAYPOINT CARDS
Health Futures UTC will incur the charges for the first PayPoint card ordered for your child. This card must kept safe as cash payments to your child’s account cannot be made without it. If your card is lost or damaged, parents / students will need to pay for replacements. The cost of a PayPoint card is £1.50 + VAT.
CHECK YOUR TRANSACTIONS AND BALANCE
You can check your balance online and view your child’s transaction history by logging into your ParentPay account. If you need your login credentials for the ParentPay website, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
THE 16-18 PHOTOCARD APPLICATION
This is a scheme that enables 16-18 year old students to purchase a 16-18 photocard, entitling them to travel on public transport at ‘child fare’ rates. Students DO NOT have to be eligible for, or in receipt of, travel subsidy from Health Futures UTC to apply for this card. It is available to all 16-18 year old students through Network West Midlands.
